Dr. Inoguchi was the recipient of the International Society for Quality of Life Studies' Distinguished Research Fellow award

The president of the Asian Consortium for Political Research and the University of Niigata Prefecture for more than a decade, he has demonstrated his prominent research ability by making numerous publications and presentations in and out of Japan in the fields of East Asian international politics, Japanese politico-economic analyses, Asian comparative political systems, quality of life in Asian societies, Japanese foreign policy, and international relations theories. Globally recognized by the United Nations, Dr. Inoguchi was the recipient of the International Society for Quality of Life Studies' Distinguished Research Fellow award for his QOL focused Asia-wide survey called the AsiaBarometer, the Japan Public Studies Association award for his book, "The Genealogy of Theories on International Relations," the Japan Behaviormetric Society award for his AsiaBarometer survey, the International Communications Fund's Excellent Research award, and the Suntory Cultural Foundation's Best Book of the Year award for his "International Politico-economic Framework for Analysis."
Dr. Inoguchi earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Tokyo in 1966, a Master of Arts in 1968 and a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1974. His educational endeavors have included stints as an associate professor at Sophia University, a professor and professor emeritus at the University of Tokyo, a professor of Chuo University and a visiting professor at universities of Singapore, Delhi, Gadjah Mada, Seoul National, Australian National, Aarhus, SciencesPo and a visiting fellow at Harvard, Johns Hopkins, California (Berkeley). To stay on top of global changes in his industry, Dr. Inoguchi is a member of The Japan Association of International Relations, The Japan Foundation of International Economic Exchange, The Yomiuri International Economic Society, The Association of Japanese-Language Teaching, The Business-University Forum Japan, and The Suntory Cultural Foundation. Looking ahead, Dr. Inoguchi intends to continue researching and writing while he continues directing the AsiaBarometer survey and editing two journals, Japanese Journal of Political Science (Cambridge University Press) and Asian Journal of Comparative Politics (Sage Publications).
