With a focus on quality and a demonstrated work ethic, he has worked as a principal scientist for CSIRO Agriculture and Food in Werribee, Australia, since 2004. The team he participate in has received four International Innovation awards from esteemed scientific bodies over the past three years for the industrial application of high frequency ultrasound for solvent-free vegetable oil recovery.
Previously, he held roles with esteemed companies, including the Australian Food Industry Science Center, where he served as senior scientist, and Huttons Kiwi Limited, where he served as research and development manager. Dr. Mawson also worked as a research scientist at the Meat Industry Research Institute in New Zealand and the manager of the agriculture department at the Food Research Center in West Samoa.
Dr. Mawson attributes his success to his love for food. Crediting his unique portfolio of skills to his education, he achieved a Bachelor of Technology in food science in 1967 and a Master of Technology in food processing in 1969. Following his undergraduate and graduate work, he went on to achieve a Ph.D. in animal sciences from Colorado State University and certification in statistical quality assurance and planning. As he looks to the future, Dr. Mawson intends to continue working in the field of food products and processing to further innovate and improve operations around the world.
