During his tenure with the company, he has patented a number of inventions for their use, including an all bit-line read sense amplifier, now an industry standard, and a rewritable multibit non-volatile memory system with multi-level storage optimizations for ramp sensing and soft decoding. "Sensing is performed at a higher bit resolution than an original user data encoding to improve the accuracy of reading state information from non-volatile storage elements," Mr. Cernea explains. He also brought to life a highly linear analog-to-digital temperature converter and method for nonvolatile memory system, as well as various architecture concepts used for both 2D and 3D non-volatile storage, among many others.
