An alumnus of the University of Westminster, Dr. Mitchell earned a Bachelor of Science and a Ph.D. in 1962 and 1968, respectively. Upon his settlement in the United States, Dr. Mitchell assumed a position with GE as a manager of research, business development and engineering until his transition into the role of consultant for the GE Corporation R&D Center in Schenectady, N.Y., a position he assumed in 1976. In 1980, he became the director of planning and forecasting for GTE Laboratories. Additionally, Dr. Mitchell acted as the assistant secretary of commerce and technology policy for the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington, DC, Bladstrom visiting professor with the Wharton School, and director of the entrepreneurship programs for Lehigh University.
Currently a government engineering executive, Dr. Mitchell has contributed several articles to books and professional journals and holds a patent in his field. He has served on the board of directors of the Industrial Research Institute, from which he received the Maurice Holland Award in 1993. He was also presented with an award from the Ayerton Premium Institute of Electrical Engineering. Dr. Mitchell is a member of several professional organizations, including IEEE, the American Management Association, and the International Association for Management of Technology, for which he served on the board of directors. For his professional efforts, he has been featured in Who's Who In Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, and Who's Who in the World.
