His noteworthy roles include professor of pediatrics at UCLA Medical School, chief of pediatrics and endocrinology at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, and professor of pediatrics at the medical school of the University of Arkansas. Dr. Fisher also served in research and development roles, such as director of the Walter Martin Research Center, senior scientist of research and education for Harbor-UCLA, president and chief science officer of Nichols Institute and vice president of science and innovation for Quest Diagnostics. Today, he serves in dual roles as an Academic Associate for Quest Diagnostics and a consultant.
Dr. Fisher contributes to his professional community as a writer and editor of various books, articles and publications. The co-editor of Pediatric Thyroidology, he served as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism from 1978-83 and Pediatric Research from 1984-89, followed by a stint as editor-in-chief of Pediatrics Research Journal. A diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and the sub board of pediatric endocrinology, Dr. Fisher earned a BA from the University of California Berkley and an MD from the University of California, San Francisco. He completed an internship and residency in pediatrics at the University of California Medical Center, followed by a second residency in pediatric endocrinology at the University of Oregon Hospital. A member of the American College of Endocrinology, the American Association of Clinical Chemistry and the Association of American Physicians, Dr. Fisher intends to continue consulting and acting as an Academic Associate for Quest Diagnostics in the years to come.
