Dr. Pauline Kra Recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in Modern Language

Dr. Kra's research projects have led to the invention of methods for automatic extraction of information on interactions between biological entities from natural language text data



She served as a lecturer at Queens College, as well as an assistant professor, associate professor, and professor of French at Yeshiva University.

    FOREST HILLS, NY, August 23, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Pauline Kra has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Dr. Kra is a French language expert and educator whose research projects have led to the invention of methods for automatic extraction of information on interactions between biological entities from natural language text data. In order to pursue these methods, Dr. Kra studied biomolecular sublanguage and wrote semantic grammar for the extraction of information on molecular interactions from journal articles, which led to the development of the Geneways software and database. Highly regarded for her unwavering commitment to all aspects of her career, she is also credited with demonstrating the unity of Montesquieus Lettres Persanes. In recognition of professional excellence in her career, Dr. Kra was selected for inclusion in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women.

Dr. Kra earned a Bachelor of Arts from Barnard College in 1955, a Master of Arts from Columbia University in 1963, a Ph.D. from Columbia University in 1968 and a second Master of Arts from Queens College in 1990. Over the course of her career, she served as a lecturer at Queens College, as well as an assistant professor, associate professor, and professor of French at Yeshiva University. Dr. Kra also served as a senior programmer analyst for the department of biomedical informatics at Columbia University and a senior programmer for the department of genetic medicine at the University of Chicago.

Now retired from teaching, Dr. Kra contributes articles to professional journals. Most recently, she was an editor for Voltaire, Epître aux Romans, Lettre d'un Ecclesiastique and De la paix perpetuelle. Looking to the future, Dr. Kra intends to continue writing and editing papers on Montesquieu and on the topic of computer applications in the humanities.
