As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
An award-winning chemical engineer, Mr. Reber has met with success by focusing on one thing: the bigger picture. He established his career in 1964 as an engineer for M.W. Kellogg in New York City. After obtaining five years of experience in the field, he joined the team at Union Carbide, where he spent 17 years progressing through the ranks. He began as a development engineer, grew into a business management role and finished his tenure as a technology manager. Motivated by his passion to solve environmental problems, Mr. Reber holds patents for systems and hardware that resulted in cleaner air and energy efficiencies. In recognition of professional excellence, he was honored by Who's Who in Science and Engineering every year since 1994.
Mr. Reber admits that his success is a testament to the myriad of opportunities with which he has been presented throughout his career. Following his tenure with Union Carbide, he served as the director of technology for UOP, and executive vice president and COO of Balchem Corporation. He also spent time with Balchem as its president and CEO. A hard worker who has risen through the ranks because of his areas of competency and expertise, Mr. Reber does not end his work at the end of the work day. Since 1970, he has served as the commissioner of the Montrose Improvement District in N.Y. He also sits on the board of directors of the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce, and acts as a consultant for businesses, corporations and other engineers.
Before establishing his career, Mr. Reber earned a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering and a Master of chemical engineering from New York University and completed the Advanced Management Program at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Crediting his education as the foundation of his career, he has continued in his professional development throughout the years so that he may stay at the top of his field. To do so, Mr. Reber maintains affiliation with the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and 32 Degree Masons. Looking to the future, he intends to continue consulting in the field of chemical engineering.
