A shareholder and director of Pender & Coward, P.C., Mr. Rephan has been with his current firm for almost 10 years. He has previously worked at a number of other law firms, including Pierson, Ball & Dowd; Danzansky, Dickey, Tydings, Quint & Gordon; Braude, Margulies, Sacks & Rephan; Hofheimer Nusbaum and Rephan Lassiter. All of these firms helped him gain the experience needed to excel in his current role at Pender & Coward, P.C. After receiving a Bachelor of Science in Commerce in 1954, Mr. Rephan went on to earn a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Virginia School of Law, as well as a JD from the university's School of Law. He is licensed to practice law by the Virginia State Bar and the District of Columbia Bar.
Mr. Rephan stays involved in the legal field through his various memberships. He is a member of the American Arbitration Association's National Roster of Arbitrators and Mediators, FINRA's Board of Arbitrators, and the Joint Committee on Continuing Legal Education of the State Bar of Virginia. Additionally, he is a member of the American Bar Association, the Virginia Bar Association, the District of Columbia Bar,Associated General Contractors and Associated Builders & Contractors. He is also of general counsel to the Hampton Roads Utility and Heavy Contractors Association.
Due to his accomplishments, Mr. Rephan has been featured in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, and Who's Who in the World. He has also contributed various articles to legal journals. In addition, Mr. Rephan has been a guest lecturer at the Regent University School of Law, lecturing on the topic of construction and government contract law. Furthermore, he served as chair and member of the Board of Governors of the Construction Law and Public Contract Section of the Virginia State Bar.
Mr. Rephan has participated in various associations to improve his local community. He has been the president of the Patrick Henry PTA, president of the Linkhorn Bay Condominium Association, treasurer of the John Adams Middle School PTA, president of the Seminary Ridge Civic Association, and democratic candidate for the Alexandria City Committee. He briefly served as first lieutenant in the U.S. Army and as a captain in the U.S. Army Jag Corps Reserve as well.
