An AV Preeminent Attorney, Mr. Lackland recently celebrated 40 years in the legal profession. Upon receiving a Bachelor of Science from Loyola University in 1965, Mr. Lackland went on to attend Howard University, from which he graduated with a Master of Arts in 1967. He served in the U.S. Army between 1967 and 1971 before returning to the United States to pursue a JD. In recognition of his military service, Mr. Lackland received a Bronze Star with One Oak Leaf Cluster, a Purple Heart, an Air Medal, a Combat Infantryman's Badge, and graduated from the U.S. Army Ranger School. He received a JD from Columbia University in 1975, and was subsequently admitted to practice in New Jersey and the United States District Court of New Jersey. Since then, Mr. Lackland has also been admitted to practice in Georgia, as well as before the United States Tax Court, the United States District Court of the Northern District of Georgia, the United States District Court of the Middle District of Georgia, the United States District Court of the Southern District of Georgia and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Mr. Lackland began his legal career as an associate with Dewey, Ballantine, Bushby, Palmer & Wood, a position he held until he was appointed an assistant U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey in 1978. He later joined Arnall Golden & Gregory, where he served as an attorney for more than a decade. Since the turn of the century, Mr. Lackland has been a partner of Lackland & Associates, LLC. Based in Atlanta, the firm is best known for handling cases involving commercial litigation, employment law, civil rights, and complex litigation matters.
In recognition of his dedication to legal practice, Mr. Lackland has been included in a wide variety of honors publications, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, and Who's Who in the World.
