Mr. Das has been a partner of the firm Seward & Kissel LLP since 1993. As head of the Global Bank and Institutional Finance & Restructuring Practice Group, he oversees offices in both New York City and London. He primarily assists clients with issues relating to corporate finance, structured finance, institutional finance, asset securitization and project finance, distressed debt and secondary market trading and energy finance restructuring.
A passion for the legal world led Mr. Das to receive a Barrister-at-Law degree at The Lincoln's Inn in London in 1979. He went on to earn a diploma from the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a Master of Laws from New York University. Mr. Das is admitted to practice law in England, Wales, New York, India, and Australia. After beginning his career as a Barrister-at-Law at Fountain Court Temple in London, he relocated to New York City to become an associate with the firm of Malcolm A. Hoffman. Mr. Das continued to accrue legal expertise in associate roles with the Manhattan-based firms of White & Case, LLP and Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy. He originally joined Seward & Kissel as an associate in 1990.
Mr. Das is a fellow and past trustee of the American College of Investment Counsel. His further affiliations include the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the New York City Bar Association, the American Arbitration Association, and the Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn. Mr. Das currently serves as president of Friends of International Students House (London) Inc. He is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of Skidmore College and on the Board of Directors of New York University School of Law.
In recognition of his achievements, Mr. Das was chosen to be featured in the 6th through 15th editions of Who's Who in American Law, the 31st edition of Who's Who in Finance and Industry, the 25th and 27th editions of Who's Who in the East, and the 3rd and 4th editions of Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
