Ms. Walters received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the College of William & Mary in 1947, followed by an Associate of Arts from the New York School of Interior Design 11 years later. In addition to running her own firm, she has served as chairman of the Richfield Springs Baker's Beach Art & Programs Commission and as executive director of the Cooperstown New York Art Association from 1986 to 1990.

She has received a Community Service Award from the town of Richfield, a Good Citizenship Award from the Daughters of the American Revolution, an Outstanding Achievement Award from the Richfield Springs Mayor and Board of Trustees in 2006.
Her memberships include the Richfield Springs Historical Association, the National Museum Women in Arts, the Institute of International Visual Artists, and the Lake and Valley Garden Club, of which she was president from 1998 to 2000. Ms. Walters has been published in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of American Women.
