Before entering the legal arena, Mr. Allison obtained a Bachelor of Science from Stanford University in 1966 and a JD from the University of Washington in 1969 where he was inducted into The Order of the Coif. Upon his commencement, he worked as an associate for Garvey, Schubert & Barer in Seattle, Wash. until 1973, at which point he became a partner. After leaving Garvey in 1986, he joined Betts, Patterson & Mines as a principal, where he stayed until 1994. By this time in his career, Mr. Allison had been admitted to the Bar Associations of Washington, the District of Columbia, and the Supreme Court. He had also served as a lecturer at Seattle University and his alma mater, the University of Washington, as well as Judge Pro Tempore for the King County Superior Court and the Seattle Municipal Court.
After 25 years in private practice, Mr. Allison joined the legal department of 3M Company. Beginning in 1994, he served as senior counsel for the company, until 2000, when he became Assistant General Counsel -- a position he held for 10 years. In 2010, he began work as an attorney for Larson King, and since 2012, has served as the owner of The Coach for Lawyers, LLC, where he has remained to this day.
A brilliant example of excellence in his field, Mr. Allison has also been featured in numerous Marquis features, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the Midwest, Who's Who in the West and Who's Who in the World. Throughout his career, he has been a member of several professional associations, such as the American Bar Association, for which he acted as vice chairman of the Toxic and Hazardous Substances and Environmental Law Committee from 1986 until 1991. He subsequently became chair elect and chair of the same committee. He also served on the Board of Directors of Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services from 2002 until 2010.
During his spare time, Mr. Allison enjoys giving back to the community. He currently serves on the Board of the Mendocino Coast Hospital Foundation and on the Finance Committee of the District Hospital. He is also an Emergency Medical Technician and Firefighter as a member of the Westport Volunteer Fire Department.
