After earning an Associate of Arts from the University Florida in 1968 and a Bachelor of Science from Memphis State University in 1970, she assumed a teaching role in the Memphis City School System. In 2008, Ms. Gorman-Althof became a substitute teacher for the theatre department of the Dreyfoos School of the Arts. She is also the school's director and producer of the children's show.
