Prof. Walendowski led a long and notable career in education, accounting and business prior to his retirement from Los Angeles City College. As an educator for 36 years, he was an adjunct associate professor in accounting, business and mathematics at Los Angeles City College, as well as an adjunct instructor in accounting, business and mathematics at Pasadena City College. In addition, during his almost 20 years with Hughes Aircraft Company, he held such roles as business management specialist, program controls specialist, financial planning specialist and senior financial analyst. Prior to working for Hughes Aircraft Company, Prof. Walendowski served as an accountant, data control supervisor and accounting analyst for Unocal.
Prof. Walendowski built the foundation for his highly successful career by earning an Associate of Arts from Los Angeles City College in 1968, then going on to receive a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Business Administration from California State University, Los Angeles. He also earned certifications from the Institute of Management Accountants, Inc., Cornell University and Villanova University, including a certification in finances and accounting, organizational leadership and business analysis. Prof. Walendowski possesses many other credentials, including a certification in new economic powers from the University of Oxford, project manager and strategic decision and risk management certifications from Stanford University, a certification in Tackling the Challenges of Big Data from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and an economic certification from NABE.
Despite retirement, Prof. Walendowski continued to review conference papers and provide online tutoring in mathematics and finances. In addition, he is a member of the Oxford Philosophical Society and the Oxford Education Society, and he contributed various articles to professional journals throughout the course of his career. Prof. Walendowski stays up-to-date with new developments in his field through his memberships with the National Business Education Association, the American Accounting Association, the Institute of Management Accountants, Inc., the Academy of Management and the Royal Economic Society. He is also a member of many other organizations, such as The Top One Percent Society, the American Friends of Lifelong Learning through Oxford University and the International Society for Philosophers, amongst others, including several honors societies.
Prof. Walendowski has received numerous accolades for his work. A few of these include Outstanding Reviewer Award from the Academy of Management Business Policy & Strategy Division, the Author Recognition Award from the Los Angeles Chapter of the Planning Executives Institute, the Certificate of Outstanding Service Editorial Advisory Board from the Institute of Management Accountants, and listed in the Author's Circle and recipient of the Robert Half Author's Award from the Los Angeles Chapter of the National Association of Accountants.
