Dr. Hollerbach has been an independent consultant specializing in international and domestic health since 2008. In this role, she draws from her strong academic foundation and impressive professional history to provide services to her clients. Dr. Hollerbach graduated cum laude from Cornell University in 1966. She then went on to earn a Master of Arts and a Ph.D., both in sociology, from Duke University. Later in her career, she expanded upon her knowledge through postgraduate studies at Columbia University.
During her last year at Duke University, Dr. Hollerbach began honing her teaching skills as a lecturer in sociology. She brought these skills to Queens College, where she taught as an assistant and associate professor of sociology for seven years. Her path then led her to the Population Council in New York City, where she spent 12 years as an associate and program manager. Dr. Hollerbach briefly returned to teaching as an adjunct professor of sociology at Hunter College, and then relocated to Virginia to work as a research officer for Family Health International. Subsequently, she accepted a position as a senior research and evaluation officer for the Academy of Educational Development in Washington, DC. Her 11 years with the organization overlapped with her roles as evaluation adviser for the CATALYST Consortium and project director of evaluation assistance services for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Division of Adolescent and School Health.
In addition to her professional positions, Dr. Hollerbach channeled her experience and expertise into a number of publications. Most recently, she authored "Comprehensive Condom Use Programs," published in 2012. Dr. Hollerbach also co-authored "Fertility Determinants in Cuba," published in 1983, and "In Their Own Words: The Formulation of Sexual and Health-related Behavior among Young Men in Bangladesh," published in 2005.
Dr. Hollerbach previously served as a member of the Population Association of America from 1966 to 2012, having served on the organization's board of directors from 1988 to 1990. Her additional professional affiliations have included the International AIDS Society from 2012 to 2016, and the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals since 2009. From 2004 to 2016, Dr. Hollerbach served on the board of directors of Options for Youth in Chicago.
