After an impressive three decades of invaluable contributions to her field, in 2004, Ms. Finley retired from working as a certified social services worker in Clayton County. Before entering the professional world back in the early '70s, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Spelman College and pursued post graduate studies at Atlanta University. Upon completing her academic endeavors, she became a job placement advisor for Marsh Draughton Business College, where she worked for a year. She worked as a child attendant for Fulton County Juvenile Court prior to becoming a social services worker for the Fulton County and Clayton County Departments of Family and Children Services, where she stayed for nearly three decades.
During her time with Fulton County Department of Family and Children Services, Sarah worked as a casework supervisor, Title VI Customer Service Coordinator of an area office and in foster care. From 1991-1992 (during Desert Storm) while still employed by Fulton County DFCS, Sarah served as the volunteer Family Support Coordinator of the Family Support Group of the Atlanta Detachment 2nd Army Maneuver Training Command and as a volunteer member of the Family Support Council of the USAR 87th Maneuver Area Command (now the 4th Brigade, 87th Division). While at Clayton County Department of Family and Children Services, Sarah worked in foster care as a certified (2000) leader in the recruitment, preparation and selection of placement resources. Sarah remains affiliated with the Fulton County Retired Employee Association.
Throughout her notable and lengthy career, Ms. Finley has achieved much. Notably, she has been featured in many honors publications, including Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who of American Women, and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America. Looking ahead, Ms. Finley intends to continue enjoying her retirement and giving back to the community through such organizations as the Class of 1968 (Spelman College) and the non-profit organization, E.D. Cubed, In., which she co-founded.
