Dr. Edfeldt founded the Swedish Movement for Education for Highly Gifted Children in 2002.
STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN, December 22, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Ake Edfeldt has been included in Marquis Who's Who. A graduate of Stockholm University, Dr. Edfeldt chose to spend his entire academic career with the school as well. After obtaining a Master of Arts, Ph.D. and an Ed.D. from Stockholm University, he began teaching at the school as an assistant professor in 1960. He went on to become an associate and then full professor of education, retiring as a professor emeritus of the university in 1991.
Throughout his career and since his retirement, Dr. Edfeldt has utilized his expertise in a number of capacities outside of Stockholm University as well. He was the managing director of Informationskonsult Inc. from 1965 to 1985, and remained with the organization as chairman from 1986 to 2004. Dr. Edfeldt also spent two years teaching education at Turku Academy in Finland. From 1989 to 1997, he served as inspector for the RMI School of Advertising and Marketing. Dr. Edfeldt founded the Swedish Movement for Education for Highly Gifted Children in 2002. He served as an adviser regarding national laws against family violence toward children in Sweden in 1979, in Germany in 2002, and in New Zealand in 2006. Dr. Edfeldt has also contributed articles to professional journals and newspapers.
A member of the International Association for Reading and Learning Disabilities, Dr. Edfeldt has also been involved with various civic organizations over the years. He was the chairman of a Swedish national group for jazz history from 1998 to 2006, and is a past board member of the Center for Distance Bridging Media at Lulea University of Technology. He was a member of the State Board of Film Censors in Stockholm from 1967 to 1976.
Dr. Edfeldt's efforts were recognized with The Bass Player Mark of Distinction from the Swedish Jazz Federation in 2000 and an honorary silver plaque from the Stockholm Community Board in 1990. His accomplishments have also been featured in the 16th through 28th editions of Who's Who in the World. Aside from his profession, Dr. Edfeldt makes time for his hobbies of hunting, collecting vintage jazz records, and driving classic cars.
