KING OF PRUSSIA, PA, January 05, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Eleanor Goldsmith has been included in Marquis Who's Who. A retired hospital administrator and educator originally from Mount Vernon, N.Y., Eleanor Goldsmith began her studies at the College of New Rochelle in the 1940s. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in commerce in 1949, she accepted a position as a teacher at the Mount Vernon School of Business. Dr. Goldsmith taught while pursuing a Master of Arts in education through New York University, which she received in 1950. The same year, she became a certified teacher in the State of New York and started teaching at Northport High School.
Later in her career, Dr. Goldsmith shifted gears to apply her skills to the health care field. She served as recreation supervisor at Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital in Morris Plains, N.Y. from 1969 to 1980. Dr. Goldsmith continued honing her knowledge in the education field, however, earning an Ed.D. from her alma mater, New York University, in 1979. After two years as the Director of Activities Therapy at Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital in New York City, she relocated to Texas to become the administrator of Mesquite Tree Nursing Home. She also became a licensed Nursing Home Administrator in the state of Texas. In 1984, she joined the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center as its Education Coordinator of the Department of Ophthalmology. Dr. Goldsmith remained in this position until her retirement in 1992.
Outside of these professional roles, Dr. Goldsmith was elected a member of the Fair Lawn Board of Education in New Jersey from 1957 until 1959. She wrote several magazine articles over the course of her career, and maintained affiliation with the Women's American Organization for Rehabilitation and Training. Dr. Goldsmith is a past president of the Bridgeport Upper Merion Lions Club as well.
Dr. Goldsmith is currently enjoying her retirement and having more time for her hobbies, which include traveling, reading, and playing bridge. She worked the polls for a number of elections, including the 2016 presidential election. Dr. Goldsmith is the mother of three children, all of whom are very accomplished individuals. She is now expecting her fourth great-grandchild.
Dr. Goldsmith's accomplishments were taken into consideration when she was chosen to be featured in the 37th edition of Who's Who in Finance and Business, the 62nd through 70th editions of Who's Who in America, the 8th edition of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, the 11th and 12th editions of Who's Who in Science and Engineering, the 26th through 33rd editions of Who's Who in the World, and the 26th through 28th editions of Who's Who of American Women.
