Recognized for more than five and a half decades of invaluable contributions to his field, Dr. Tripodi parlays his extensive knowledge into his current role with Ohio State University, where he has served as dean and professor emeritus since 2005. Prior to entering the professional world, he earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Social Work from the University of California, Berkeley. After graduation, he started as a research analyst for the California Youth Authority, where he stayed for a year. Two years later, he joined Columbia University as a research assistant and eventually an assistant professor. During his three-year stint with Columbia, he also earned a Doctor of Social Work from them. In 1965, he transferred to his undergraduate alma mater and worked as an assistant professor for one year.
For more than two decades following his work with the University of California, Berkeley, Dr. Tripodi joined the University of Michigan School of Social Work, where he held the roles of associate professor and eventually professor. He also served as associate dean and professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work from 1987 to 1992. Since then, he has worked as a professor, associate director and head of the doctoral program at Florida International University, and professor and dean of the College of Social Work at Ohio State University.
A shining example of skill in his field, Dr. Tripodi has parlayed his knowledge into numerous creative works, including "Requiem for Torchy," which was published in 2003, "Tuscan Landscapes," in 2005, and "Research Techniques for Clinical Social Workers," in 2007. He has also had the opportunity to contribute to many articles in professional journals. In order to maintain a connection to his field outside of his job, he affiliates himself with the National Association of Social Workers, the Academy of Certified Social Workers and the Council of Social Work Education.
