COLLEGE STATION, TX, January 06, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Christopher Colville Mathewson, Ph.D., P.E., P.G., has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Widely regarded as a skilled engineer, geologist and educator, Dr. Mathewson began a scientific career upon graduating from the Case Institute of Technology with a BSCE in 1963. He went on to receive a Master of Science in geological engineering and a Ph.D. in geological engineering from the University of Arizona. In addition to being a Registered Professional Engineer in Texas and Arizona, Dr. Mathewson is also a Professional Geologist in Texas, Oregon and Alaska. Since 2012, he has served as a Senior Training Specialist with the Texas Engineering Extension Service. Although he is now recognized as a Regents Professor emeritus, Dr. Mathewson worked as a Regents Professor for Texas A&M University from 2005 to 2011 and as a professor from 1981 to 2011. Early in his career, he served as an officer and lieutenant with the National Ocean Survey.
Throughout the course of his career, Dr. Mathewson has contributed numerous articles to professional publications pertaining to his areas of expertise. He is also credited as the author of "Engineering Geology." Published in 1981, the book received the C.P. Holdredge Award. In an effort to stay abreast of recent developments in the scientific community, Dr. Mathewson maintains affiliation with the Society of American Military Engineers, Association of Engineering Geologists, American Geosciences Institute, and Enviromental and International Association of Engineering Geologists. In 2012, Dr. Mathewson was appointed to the Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists.
In recognition of his contributions to science, Dr. Mathewson has been featured in a wide range of honors publications, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, and Who's Who in the World. In 2011, the AEG Texas Section Scholarship Fund honored Dr. Mathewson by establishing a scholarship in his name. The award is presented to outstanding and deserving students based on demonstrated ability, scholarship, potential for contributions to the profession, character, and participation in student and professional societies.
