Widely respected in the scientific community, Dr. Uuspaa recently celebrated 50 years of experience as a research engineer. He began his career upon receiving a Master of Science in technical physics from Helsinki University of Technology in 1966. During this time, Dr. Uuspaa was recognized for his academic prowess with the high GPA prize from the university. He later joined the Finnish Atomic Energy Commission as a research assistant, a position he held until 1969.
Early in his professional journey, Dr. Uuspaa briefly resided in the United States while pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Washington. He served the university as a research associate and teaching associate for the department of electrical engineering before returning to Finland in 1974 to accept a senior chief research engineer position with VTT. This position led to an ongoing career with the VTT Laboratory of Electrical and Automation Engineering. Most recently, Dr. Uuspaa served as a chief research engineer with the company until 2007. He was also a chief engineering counselor for the Supreme Administrative Court of Finland until 2011. He was a lecturer, docent with the Helsinki University of Technology from 1983 to 2005.
Throughout the course of his career, Dr. Uuspaa has been continually recognized for his skills and expertise as a research engineer. Since 1966, he has been featured in a wide range of honors publications, including Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in Science and Engineering and Who's Who in the World. Dr. Uuspaa is also widely respected as a lecturer in his field, and was previously the president of the Cosmopolitan Club at the University of Washington, in addition to being a president of the Viittakivi Association in Finland.
