Here are some highlights of her education and career:
1) She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Romance Languages from the University of Cincinnati, 1968.
2) She studied Spanish at the University of Salamanca, Spain, and lived with a Spanish family for two months.
3) Post grad, she taught elementary Spanish at the University of Cincinnati on an assistantship.
4) She worked as a bilingual secretary and translator for export companies.
5) She worked 20+ years as secretary/administrative assistant for a team of 35 school psychologists.
Art Studies
When she was away from her duties as an administrative assistant, she pursued her interest in art. Mary has taken classes in drawing, painting, quilting, stained glass, weaving, pottery, calligraphy, silkscreen, air brush, batik, copper enamel, and floral design.
Media/Mediums
As a decorative artist, Mary works in watercolor, oils, acrylics, pastels and colored pencils.
Subject Matter
She enjoys painting florals, still life, landscapes, seascapes, birds, and Santa.
Volunteer Charitable Activities
1) Painting memory boxes for hospital infant bereavement programs.
2) Sending notes of encouragement or comfort to those in need, as a member of Guardian Angel Artists.
3) Sending birthday cards to members of her church, St. John's Westminster Union Church, using greeting card software.
Honors
In 2009, Mary painted a Christmas ornament for the Smithsonian. It was a miniature version of "Book of Pictures" by Kenyon Cox, which is a painting in the museum's collection. The ornament was used on the Christmas tree of the Smithsonian's Fenwick Gallery in Washington, DC.
Cookbook Editor
Mary has typed and edited four cookbooks - two were for Cincinnati Public School's Brotherhood Week, another was for Cincinnati Pioneer Antique and Hobby Association, and one for a local senior citizens center (Cleves, OH).

Mary is certified in commercial floristry by the James W. White School of Floral Design, Dayton, OH.
