Upon amassing more than three decades of professional experience, Dr. Thomas retired from the field of education. He started his journey by earning a Bachelor of Arts from Allegheny College and a Master of Arts through the University of Michigan. Once he graduated, he joined Houghton College as a biology instructor and eventually earned a Master of Science and a Ph.D. from his graduate alma mater. That propelled him to become an assistant professor with Point Loma College, a research fellow with the California Institute of Technology, a visiting professor at Johns Hopkins University, and a professor and chairman of the department of biology at Edinboro University. Before he retired, he went back to school and earned a Doctor of Ministry from Drew University. He used that degree to serve as a pastor at the United Church of Christ from 1995 until 2013.
A member of the Audubon Society, Dr. Thomas has contributed his extensive knowledge of the field into such creative works as, "W. Edwards Deming: Improving Quality in Colleges and Universities," "A Christian Looks at Death," and "Easter Urges Us to Look at Death." Throughout his career, he has been recognized many times for his accomplishments; he has been included in the eighth edition of Who's Who in American Education, 14 volumes of Who's Who in America, and three volumes of Who's Who in Science and Engineering. In the coming years, Dr. Thomas intends to continue enjoying his retirement.
