Jack T. Patton, MD, has worked as a family medicine consultant since 2007 and is also Executive VP of Patton Industries. Before embarking on his half-century long career in health care, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in history from California State University, Long Beach and an MD from the University of Southern California. Upon graduation, he entered the U.S. Army as an intern at Tripler Army Medical Center before transferring to Walson Army Hospital as a resident in general practice. From 1970-1973, he served as deputy commander and head of the medical section at Schofield Barracks and in 1973 as liaison to establish the Family Practice Residence at Tripler Army Medical Center. On discharge from the Army in 1973, with the rank of major, he was awarded the Meritorious Service medal. Subsequently, he entered Christian missionary service, and from 1973-1980 was medical superintendant of Nazarene in Papua New Guinea. During his last year in that role, he earned a Master of Arts in biblical studies from Mennonite Brethren Bible Seminary. After leaving Nazarene Hospital, Dr. Patton began working at Sharp Rees-Stealy as the chairman of the family practice department, where he remained for five years.
In 1986, Dr. Patton joined Kaiser Permanente, where he served as chairman of occupational medicine for a year. The following five years he worked as an associate medical director for Sharp Rees-Stealy. In 1993, he went back to school, obtaining a Master of Arts in history from California State University, Fresno, then spent a year as medical director for Summer Institute of Linguistics in Papua New Guinea. In 1994, he started a three-year stint in the family practice department of Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group. For the next decade prior to obtaining his current role, he worked in the family practice department for Northwest Medical Group and chairman of the department of family practice for St. Agnes Medical Center.
Certified through the American Board of Family Medicine, Dr. Patton is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the California Academy of Family Physicians and the Royal Society of Medicine. He was recognized with the Mackenzie Scholarship while studying at the University of Southern California and has been featured in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, and Who's Who in the World.
