Lillian Louise Jones-Smith Celebrated by Marquis Who's Who for More Than 60 Years of Invaluable Contributions to Her Field

Over the course of her professional journey, Ms. Smith has won many awards for her efforts, including the Professional Growth Award from the State Board of Education.

    DETROIT, MI, March 02, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lillian Louise Jones-Smith has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. With more than six decades of practiced industry experience, Ms. Jones-Smith is uniquely positioned to oversee a wide range of tasks. SMITH'S TRAVEL AGENCY and NEOLIFE distributor since 2015. Before obtaining her first professional role in the field, she earned a Bachelor of Science from Shaw University. Upon graduating, she started as a science teacher at Speight High School, and two years later, she began a three-year stint as an insurance agent for Diggs and Mammoth Insurance Co. Ms. Jones-Smith proceeded to become a biology teacher for Lillington Public High School, where she stayed until 1965, and then Detroit Public School, where she stayed until 1991. During this time, she went back to school, obtaining a Master of Education from Wayne State University.

After spending a large chunk of her career in the academic world, Ms. Jones-Smith became a judge at the Metropolitan Science Fair, where she worked from 1991 until 2000, and the president of the Detroit Association of Women's Clubs. Later, Ms. Jones-Smith joined Detroit Association of Retired School Personnel and was later voted recording secretary for three years and President in 2013. While she was serving in these roles, she returned to her graduate alma mater and earned a Master of Library Science. Before obtaining her current role, she occupied the positions of executive director of the Detroit Association of Women's Clubs, and recording secretary and president of the Detroit Association of Retired School Personnel. She is also a member of the American Library Association and the Saginaw 21st Century Women's Club.

Over the course of her professional journey, Ms. Smith has won many awards for her efforts, including the Professional Growth Award from the State Board of Education in 1990, and the Community Service Award from the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Club in 2004. Additionally, she has had the honor of being included in the 26th and 27th editions of Who's Who of American Women. Looking forward, Ms. Smith intends to experience the continued growth and success of her career.
