A senior scientist for NanoViricides Inc. since 2006, she started her journey in 1965 at Purdue University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry. Upon her commencement, she joined Great Lakes Chemical Corp as a laboratory chemisty. Subsequently, Ms. Onton held similar roles with companies like Geigy Chemical Corp., Chemical Abstracts Service, Applied Biotech Concepts, Inc., Genaissance Pharmaceuticals, AllExcel, Inc., and TheraCour Pharma Inc.
A member of the American Chemical Society, the Association for Women in Science and the National Association of Professional Women, Ms. Onton has achieved much throughout her lengthy career. Notably, she is the co-inventor of a U.S. patent for the solubilization and targeted delivery of drugs with amphiphilic polymers, and has a patent pending for self-assembling polymeric nanomaterials as anti-cancer agents. Ms. Onton is also a USA national and world medalist in master and senior Olympic swimming. On August 19, 2016, at age 72, she swam across the English Channel. She posted over 100 U.S. Masters Swimming Top 10 times. She has been noted for her achievements on many occasions, including through features in numerous editions each of Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who of American Women, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who in the East.
