Ms. Rupprecht has established a strong career as an art educator and portrait painter. Born in Paris to noted Chicago artists, Ms. Rupprecht, along with her parents, returned to the United States as a child. She received her bachelor and master's degrees in art at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She began her professional life as a designer for Marshall Field's in 1957. Moving on to a position closer to her chosen profession, she became the director of Chicago's Old Town Art Gallery in 1958 through 1959. The year 1958 also inaugurated Ms. Rupprecht's long affiliation with the Ox-Bow Summer School of Painting in Saugatuck, Michigan (this is now Ox-Bow, School Of Art And Artists' Residency, an accredited school now affiliated with The School of the Art Institute Of Chicago). Ms. Rupprecht's persistent efforts were of primary importance in forging an alliance between these two institutions. This organization, serving serious artists in the region, called upon Ms. Rupprecht to hold various positions on the Board including Secretary and President. She remained a board member for 49 years, promoting the interests of Ox-Bow in educating developing artists in the practice of their chosen mediums.
1960 began her tenure with The School Of The Art Institute of Chicago. She started with the school as an instructor, advancing to full professor. A professor emeritus at SAIC since 2014, Ms. Rupprecht is appreciated for guiding countless students in the areas of drawing, painting, and color. Her own paintings have been featured in exhibitions at the Illinois State Museum, the Grand Rapids Public Museum, and the Lubeznik Center for the Arts. She also completed portraits on commission for Wyler Children's Hospital in Chicago and various other patrons. During this time, she also worked in the field as a color consultant.
In recognition of Ms. Rupprecht's accomplishments in the realm of art, she was chosen to be featured in the 24th through 36th editions of Who's Who in American Art. She has also appeared in the 63rd edition of Who's Who in America, the 8th edition of Who's Who in American Education, the 23rd edition of Who's Who in the Midwest, and the 26th edition of Who's Who of American Women.
