An award-winning physician regarded for research in T-cell mediated heterologous immunity in viral infections, Dr. Selin celebrates more than 27 years of professional experience. Now a professor with the University of Massachusetts Medical School, she has dedicated her career to the clinical research of medical conditions so that she may not only contribute to the advancement of medicine and science, but also educate and inspire the next generation of physicians under her tutelage. Over the course of her career, she has worked in many roles with the college, including associate professor, assistant professor, instructor and postdoctoral fellow. Before establishing her career, Dr. Selin earned a Bachelor of Science and an MD, and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians at Dalhousie University in 1974, 1979 and 1984, respectively. She completed a medical internship and residency in internal medicine at the university hospital before attending and completing a fellowship program in infectious diseases at the University of Manitoba. Also during this time, Dr. Selin achieved a Ph.D.
In recognition of professional excellence, Dr. Selin was honored with scholarships and fellowships from the Medical Council of Canada, Dalhousie University, the Izaak Walton Killam Foundation and the National Institute of Health, which also awarded her with a Clinical Investigator Award. Dr. Selin was also selected for inclusion into Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who of American Women and Who's Who in America. Today, she stays at the top of her field through her affiliations with the Canadian Infectious Disease Society and the American Association of Immunologists.
