Dr. Falah El-Haddawi is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and Fellow of the Iraqi Commission for Medical Specializations. He received the GB Ong Gold Medal from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburg in 2002. He is a foundation member of the Breast Surgeons of Australia and New Zealand Society, the International Society of Endocrine Surgeons, and a member of the New Zealand Association of General Surgeons. He is registered in New Zealand and Australia.
He started his medical career after graduating with a MBChB from the University of Baghdad in 1985. Dr. El-Haddawi completed his primary training and surgical fellowship in Iraq in 1993 before moving to New Zealand where he worked in different hospitals around the country including Auckland, Nelson and New Plymouth as part of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons fellowship programme. He gained a Fellowship in Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2002 with GB Ong Gold Medal, and a Fellowship in Surgery from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2006. He moved to Brisbane, Australia to gain experience in the breast and endocrine surgical field. In 2011 he returned to New Zealand, assuming his current position as a consultant surgeon in the Breast, Endocrine and General Surgery.
