Throughout her career, Ms. Bosley has maintained a love for communicating through the written word. Beginning in 1963 as a copy editor and reporter for the Indianapolis News, she has used her gift to help others receive and comprehend information. After working for the newspaper, she became an English teacher at Beech Grove Junior High School and then moved to the East Coast, where she also taught English at Southern Regional High School in New Jersey. From there, she became a professor of humanities, journalism and English at Ocean County College, a public community college offering associate degrees.
In addition to her role within the classroom, Ms. Bosley has been an online copy editor for American Cinematographer magazine and a freelance editor working on a number of projects. She has also penned several articles and edited books for other authors since 2010. Prior to her retirement in 2008, she served as an adviser to the student newspaper and yearbook committees at Ocean County College, relying in part on her past journalism experience.
Ms. Bosley's civic participation includes past membership with the Long Beach Island Historical Association (of which she is a founder), the Long Beach Township Recreation Commission, the Long Beach Island PTA, and the advisory council of the Student Press Law Center, for which she also previously served as secretary. She has also been affiliated with the American Association of University Women, the National Education Association, the New Jersey Education Association, the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, and the Society of Professional Journalists, among others.
She is the recipient of the Press Freedom Award from the Student Press Law Center and a First Amendment Award from the Society of Collegiate Journalists, as well as an inductee of the College Media Association's Hall of Fame. Recognized as a leading figure in her field, she has been included in editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who of American Women, and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
