A distinguished technology and engineering educator in the state of New York, Mr. Goodwin has committed his career to developing the technical talents of students aspiring to succeed in today's world. Over the course of his career, he has made a tremendous impact on the Union-Endicott Central School System, where he has worked in many capacities since joining the team in 1969. His most noteworthy roles include chairman of the technology and management sciences department (1996-2003), technology education teacher (1986-2003), and industrial arts teacher (1969-1986). Along the way, Mr. Goodwin was involved with educational civic projects with the New York State Education Department and held the positions of curriculum writer, test writer, evaluator, teacher trainer, school quality reviewer and member of the higher education committee. He also served as a member of the Union-Endicott School District Planning Team, the Union-Endicott Education Foundation Board, the Advisory Council chair for the New York State Technology and Engineering Educators Association, and served as a consultant for a research study with the University of Minnesota.
Mr. Goodwin is an award winner because of his dedication and true passion for his line of work. He was named New York State Technology Education Teacher of the Year by the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association and received an Outstanding Educator Award at the New York State Tech Prep Conference. Additionally, he earned an Outstanding Achievements and Contributions Award in the Field of Education from the New York State Society of Professional Engineers. He was recognized with the Distinguished Alumnus Award from SUNY Oswego as well as a Laureate Citation from the Epsilon Pi Tau International Honorary. Most recently, Mr. Goodwin was selected for inclusion in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, and Who's Who in the World.
To prepare for a career in education, Mr. Goodwin earned a Bachelor of Science from the State University of New York at Oswego in 1967 and a Master of Science in education from the same institution in 1973. A certified teacher trainer and contributor to articles and professional publications, Mr. Goodwin has remained at the top of his profession by participating actively in industry organizations. Over the last four decades, he has been an honorary life member of the New York State Congress of Parents and Teachers, president of the Southern Tier Technology and Engineering Educators Association, political action chairman, and president of the New York State Technology and Engineering Educators Association.
Looking to the future, Mr. Goodwin intends to continue working as a technology and engineering educator while providing a nationwide influence in these areas through his civic work and publications in professional journals.
