PROVIDENCE, RI, March 24, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Friedrich StFlorian has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments , visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

An award-winning architect, Mr. StFlorian brings with him more than five decades of professional experience. In the 1960's and 1970's Friedrich StFlorian belonged to a group of young architects whose search for a new architecture was fueled by their fascination with new technologies and new materials. It was an euphoric moment in history when dreams and visions for a better future seemed justifiable. The Imaginary Space installation at the Moderna Museet in Stockholm in 1969 brought him international recognition and an invitation to join the newly founded Center for Advanced Visual Studies at MIT.

A range of private residences in and around Providence mark the beginning of his architectural practice. StFlorian never insisted on applying the same approach twice. There are however constant traits: the careful use of light, a highly developed sense of spatial composition. On occasion, later projects carry in them the seeds of earlier visions. The haunting beauty of the Third Millennium Project, whose rays of light project an ephemeral image of the future into the sky, recalls earlier visionary projects.

StFlorian's winning design for the World War II Memorial in Washington, DC, the result of a national competition, is his most visible work to date. It adds a new type to Washington's unique memorial landscape. It celebrates the triumph of democracy in mid 20th century while enriching the lives of those who visit.

Friedrich StFlorian contributed significantly to the formation of two generations of aspiring architects during his fifty two years as Professor of Architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design. He served as dean of Architecture and Design for eight years and chief critic of the European Honors Program in Rome for four years.

He also taught for one year at Columbia University following his studies as a Fulbright Fellow. He served as Visiting Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, McGill University, The University of Texas in Austin, The University of Utah and the Architectural Association School of Architecture, London.

Mr. StFlorian earned a Master of Architecture degree from the Technical University in Graz and a Master of Science in Architecture degree from Columbia University.

Friedrich StFlorian has won numerous awards for his achievements in the field of architecture. His visionary drawings are in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the George Pompidou Centre in Paris, MIT and the Museum of Art, Rhode Island School of Design. He is a Fellow of the American Academy in Rome and a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects. Brown University bestowed upon him the degree of Doctor of Fine Arts, honoris causa in 2006.

Mr. StFlorian was featured in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in Science and Engineering and Who's Who in the World. As he looks to the future, Mr. StFlorian intends to continue working as a consultant in the field of architecture while taking on new projects in the years ahead.
