Now retired, Dr. Snook spent more than five decades providing top of the line services as a psychologist, ergonomist and educator. He concluded his career in 2004 as a Lecturer for the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston, MA, where he had been a member of the faculty since 1974. Previously, he came to prominence as the Director of the Ergonomics Laboratory for the Liberty Mutual Research Center in Hopkinton, MA, and as a member of the Committee on Human Factors with the National Research Council. Other noteworthy roles held in Dr. Snook's career include member of the Advisory Panel on Research with the American Physical Therapy Association and the Cumulative Trauma Committee with the American National Standards Institute. In recognition of his professional excellence, he was the recipient of the Kraft Innovation Award from the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society and the Extension Award from the McKenzie Institute International. In addition, Dr. Snook was selected for inclusion into Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the World.
Before establishing himself professionally, Dr. Snook prepared for his career by investing in his education. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Hartwick College in 1954, a Master of Arts from Fordham University in 1960, and a Ph.D. from Tufts University in 1969. He became a licensed psychologist in 1973 and a board certified professional ergonomist in 1993. To stay at the top of his field, he is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors in the U.K., and the International Ergonomics Association,. As he looks to the future, Dr. Snook intends to enjoy retirement while taking on new projects and opportunities as they arise.
