Today, she excels in her role as a mathematics teacher for Lake View High School within the San Angelo Independent School District in Texas. On a daily basis she demonstrates her expertise in algebra and precalculus education. Alongside her teaching responsibilities, Ms. Paschal coaches the mathematics team, coordinates the school's university interscholastic league, and provides advisement on books for publication. In recognition of her professional excellence in her career, she earned a Worldwide Lifetime Achievement award and distinction as a VIP of the Year and Teacher of the Year. In addition, Ms. Paschal was featured in Worldwide Branding's Top 12 Educators of the Year Calendar.
Ms. Paschal became involved in her profession after working as a teacher's aide for several years. During this time, she realized her natural ability to teach students and her joy in helping them to succeed academically. To prepare for her work as a teacher, Ms. Paschal achieved a Bachelor of Science in mathematics, with a minor in biology, from Angelo State University in 1980. As her career has progressed, she has remained a prominent member of her professional community through her industry affiliations. Most notably, she is involved with the Texas Math and Science Coaches Association and ASCD (the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development). Additionally, Ms. Paschal is involved with the curriculum writing team for the San Angelo Independent School District, where she helps to create resources in the subjects of algebra and precalculus. When asked of her success in her career, she attributes her achievements to her passion for teaching and the support she received from her mentors - which includes her own high school teachers. As she looks to the future, Ms. Paschal intends to continue teaching at the school, sharing her knowledge with students and mentoring other teachers.
