Upon graduating from Harvard University with a JD in 1960, Mr. Davis joined Jenner & Block as an associate. He remained with the firm for seven years before becoming a partner with Davis, Friedman in 1967. Most recently, he took on the role Of Counsel with the firm in 2014. In addition to his career as a lawyer, Mr. Davis is also an experienced lecturer on matrimonial law and litigation. He was previously a legal adviser to the Michael Reese Medical Research Institute Council from 1967 to 1982 and a co-chair of a committee to study and recommend comprehensive rules for the Domestic Relations Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County from 2003 to 2009. Since 2012, Mr. Davis has been a member of the State of Illinois Circuit Court of Cook County Domestic Relations Division Procedure and Policy Review Committee.
Over the years, Mr. Davis has authored and co-authored numerous texts pertaining to his areas of focus, including "The Parental Couple in a Successful Divorce," "The Illinois Practice of Family Law," and "Enforceable Civility: A Critical Part of the Judicial Process in Divorce Litigation." He was also a contributing author to "Marriage, Health and the Professions," which was published in 2002. From 1984 to 2007, Mr. Davis served as a member of the editorial board for the "Equitable Distribution Journal." Further, he has contributed numerous articles to legal journals in his areas of focus.
Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Davis has been continually recognized for his contributions to the field of family law. In 2010, he was named among the Best Lawyers in Family Law in Chicago, and between 1985 and 2016, he was featured in a wide range of honors publications, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the Midwest, Who's Who in Finance and Business, and Who's Who in the World. In addition, he was the recipient of the Samuel S. Berger Award from the Illinois Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers in 2009.
