Sculptor Ellen Pavlakos grew up in Athens, Greece where sculpture was very visible in her everyday life and had a profound effect on her awareness and love of art.
In the United States, she studied under Bruno Lucchesi and Ruth Nickelson at the National Academy of Design in New York in 1980 and 1981 and under Luis Montoya at the Norton Museum School of Art in West Palm Beach, Florida from 1976 to 1979.
The figure is her vehicle of expression. Human emotions and experience inspire her work. There is a continuing thread of concern with human emotion running through most of her works that unites them. Her home and studio are in Indialantic, Florida, near the Atlantic Ocean.
She is an elected member of the National Academic Artists Association, Medalic Sculpture Association, International Art Medal Federation Federation, Chamber of Visual Arts in Greece, National League of American Pen Women, and The Ten Women in Art.
