Recognized for nearly six decades of invaluable contributions to the field of engineering, Dr. O'Donnell currently parlays his extensive knowledge into roles with an eponymous company, for which he has served as president and chairman of the board since 1970. Prior to entering the field, he attended the Carnegie Institute of Technology to earn a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering with a minor in matallurgy. Upon graduating, he joined Westinghouse Research Laboratory. After departing Westinghouse, he returned to school, attending the University of Pittsburgh to achieve a Master of Science in mechanical engineering. Two years later, he joined Westinghouse Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, where he held such roles as Advisory Engineer, until he opened his own company in 1970. During that time, he returned to the University of Pittsburgh to earn a Ph.D.
In order to keep current with changes in the engineering industry, Dr. O'Donnell affiliates himself with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, through which he won various awards, as well as the National Society of Professional Engineers, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the American Society for Testing and Materials. Throughout his lengthy and storied career, he has had the opportunity to contribute articles to professional journals; he also holds patents on processes and devices. Dr. O'Donnell is a qualified forensic expert in failure causation analyses in State, Federal and international courts. He has won many awards for his outstanding work, including the Pi Tau Sigma Gold Medal for Achievements in Engineering, the Pressure Vessel and Piping Award from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers in 1994, and the Distinguished Achievement Award from Carnegie Mellon University in 2004. Additionally, he has had the honor of being featured in Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in America, and Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
