Kiyoko Sakai Celebrated by Marquis Who's Who for 55 Years of Contributions to Art

Kiyoko Sakai's artwork is currently being featured in a group show under the title The Museum of Goodbye:An Exhibition of Surrender, Release, Desertion, and Letting Go in Montclair, NJ between May 19 and June 23, 2017



An abstract expressionist, Ms. Sakai has painted with acrylic, oil paints and water color on either canvas, paper or glass for the majority of her artistic career.

An abstract expressionist, Ms. Sakai has painted with acrylic, oil paints and water color on either canvas, paper or glass for the majority of her artistic career. She is influenced by both the dynamic scale of American abstract expressionists and the awareness of lines in traditional Japanese art. She attended School of Visual Arts in NY and Urbino, Italy, and the Art Students League of New York on a Kenneth Hayes Memorial Scholarship Award.

Her painting, Theory of Strings, is featured on the book cover for Les Medias et le Faconnement des Normes, published by Presses de l'Universite du Quebec, 2007. She was recognized with the Artists' Showcase Award at Manhattan Arts International, and won 2nd Prize for a painting at the Bergen Museum Juried Show, and 1st Prize for mixed media at the Ramapo College Juried Show. In 2016 she was nominated for Woman of the Year by the International Biographical Centre.
