Dr. Du Mont has served as a distinguished psychiatrist for 25 years and an assistant professor at Columbia University for 17, specializing in psychotherapy and psychopharmacology for adult, adolescent, and pediatric care. Since the '90s he has been a well-regarded clinical administrator, medical educator, consultant, and practicing psychologist in the New York area, with a total of 33 years in many aspects of the psychological field. Dr. Du Mont is enthused about expanding to digital marketing and mobile applications designed by physicians, with an emphasis on User Experience (UX) design. In 1954, Dr. Du Mont was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to Joseph Henri and Isabel Du Mont. He earned an MD from the University of Puerto Rico in 1984, and served as an associate professor at the nearby Polytechnic University, as well as the InterAmerican University. Dr. Du Mont travelled to New York for postgraduate work at Columbia University in the '90s. He studied adult, pediatric, adolescent, and public community psychiatry, and was appointed assistant professor at Columbia in 1997, a role in which he still serves today. Prior to that position, he taught at numerous prestigious institutions in New York, including the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and the Elmhurst Medical Center. In 1992, Dr. Du Mont was invited as a visiting fellow to the New York State Psychiatric Institute.
From 1993 to 1996, Dr. Du Mont was an assistant attending physician at Mount Sinai while working as a medical director at the Holistic Medical Center in New York City. He has been an attending physician of the Westchester Jewish Medical Services, the Montefiore Medical Center, the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and the Puerto Rican Family Institute. Dr. Du Mont served as medical director in the late '90s for the Tavares Hispanic Mental Health Clinical at the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. In 2009, he was appointed attending psychologist in the outpatient psychiatry clinic at St. Luke Reserve Hospital of New York, where he treats patients today.
Dr. Du Mont has always given back to his community, and serves the Association of Hispanic Mental Health Professionals as senior advisor and treasurer. In 1992, he became vice president of Engineering Medical Support Inc, rising to become the corporate executive officer of the community organization firm. He is also a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Pagan Studies.
