During his 30 years of experience in the military supporting his field of expertise, he held many responsibilities, some of which included offering naval logistics information systems support for vessels, handling training, troubleshooting, engaging long-distance support, teaching system administration classes to sailors, and restoring databases. Over the course of his career, Mr. Reid has accomplished 14 hardware and software installations and upgrades valued at more than $6 million for 42 aviation departments. Achieving the rank of E-9 master gunnery sergeant upon retirement, some of the most notable highlights of his career have included the planning, coordination, and successful deployment of Third Marine Air Wing Information Systems and providing support to Iraq in execution of the global war on terrorism. In the scope of three months, he set up three disparate locations to support 27 aviation units and two support ships, consisting of 216 aircrafts and more than 5,000 personnel working with local computer systems to satellite communications.
Hoping to continue to advance in his field, Mr. Reid is the recipient of a 2010 Meritorious Service Award, was named Employee of the Quarter in 1997, is a two-time recipient of a National Defense Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and received a Presidential Unit Citation. Additionally, he earned two Navy Meritorious Unit Commendations, four Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, a Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, seven Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, and 10 Marine Corps Good Conduct Medals.
A graduate of Bayfield High School, located in Colorado's La Plata County, Mr. Reid later completed a bachelor's degree in information technology management from National University in 2004 and an MBA from the University of Phoenix in 2007. He holds a Security Plus Certificate through CompTIA, Inc. and a Post-Bachelor Certificate in Linux.
A member of BPO Elks, The American Legion, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Mr. Reid is also active in his community by supporting the American Cancer Society, the American Lung Association, and Habitat for Humanity International.
