A humanities expert with more than five decades of experience, Dr. Golden has met with success in his career because of his passion for education and classical languages. Since 1976, he has served as the director of the Program in Interdisciplinary Humanities at Florida State University, which offers courses and curriculum centered on the literacy and artistic achievements of World Cultures. Dr. Golden has worked at the university since 1965, during which time he has held various roles including chairman of the classic departments, professor, and associate professor of classical languages. Previously, he came to prominence as an assistant professor of ancient languages and instructor at the College of William and Mary, as well as fellow of the cooperative program at the University of North Carolina and Duke University. For his professional excellence, he was featured in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in South and the Southwest, and Who's Who in the World.
Before establishing himself as an expert in his field, Dr. Golden prepared for his professional tenure by attending the University of Chicago. While there, he achieved a Bachelor of Arts in 1950, a Master of Arts in 1953, and a Ph.D. in 1958. He has remained a prominent figure in this industry through his affiliations with top organizations including he American Philological Association (Now the Society for Classical Studies), the Archaeological Institute of America, and the Classical Association of the Middle West and South, for which he served as president of the Southern section. Looking to the future, Dr. Golden plans to continue in his work as an educator.
