At the start of her career, she joined the Biotechnology Research Institute as a postdoctoral fellow. Before joining her current employer, she served as a visiting associate with the National Institutes of Health (NIH), as well as a visiting scientist for the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, MD. Additionally, Dr. Carrier has lent her expertise to working with the editorial boards of Cancer Research, the Journal of Clinical Oncology and Research and numerous NIH review panels as an expert grants reviewer.
An alumna of the University of Montreal, Dr. Carrier holds a PhD in Clinical Sciences, which she earned in 1988. Her professional affiliations include the American Association for Cancer Research and the New York Academy of Sciences. Throughout her career, Dr. Carrier, a contributor to numerous articles in professional journals, has achieved much. Some of her proudest achievements have been earning numerous patents for a variety of methods including determine the presence of functional p53 in mammalian cells, inhibitors of the S100-p53 protein-protein interaction and Compositions and Methods for Treating Cancer by Rational Targeting of Protein Translation as well as the research she has conducted into the genotoxic stress-response, cancer progression, and chromatin remodeling.
Notably, Dr. Carrier has earned many awards and grants for her work in the cancer field, including the grants she has been awarded by the National Institutes of Health, the American Cancer Society and the Veterans Affairs merit award. In 1999 she was elected member of the Cosmos Club in Washington DC. Since the early-2000s, she has also had the honor of being featured in numerous volumes of Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who of American Women and Who's Who in the World.
