Earlier in her career, she joined the Goshen Public School as a supervisor of elementary art. From there, she joined numerous other academic institutions at various levels, working in such positions as art teacher, assistant professor, program coordinator, and chairman of the fine arts division. Over the years, she has also lent her artistic expertise to Southwest Community College, the Iowa Amateur Artists Association, and Terrengannu.
A graduate of Wittenberg University, the University of Wisconsin, and Northern Illinois University, Dr. Heinicke holds a Bachelor of Science, a Master of Science, a Master of Fine Arts, and an EdD in education administration. Her professional affiliations include the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the American Association of University Women, the Art Education Association, the Chicago Artists Coalition, and the College Art Association.
Throughout her lengthy career, she has been recognized many times for her work, earning such honors as the Faculty Research Award from Simpson College, and the Robert Ray Outstanding Volunteer Award through Iowa Sister States. Additionally, Dr. Heinicke has had the honor of inclusion into one volume each of Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in the Midwest, and Who's Who in American Education, and three volumes each of Who's Who in America and Who's Who of American Women.
