For 50 years, Ms. Owen has devoted herself to art education, along with being an accomplished artists in the fields of ceramics, ceramic sculpture and printmaking. She has been featured in galleries, magazines, art books and shows. Notably, her art part of an international exhibition at the Galerie Handwerk in Germany. She has created large ceramic murals, one commissioned by her alma mater, the University of Redlands. For all of her professional career, she taught as a professor of art at Mt. San Antonio College, and currently holds the distinguished title of professor emeritus at Mount San Antonio College in Walnut, California.
Ms. Owen began her art career as a student at the University of Redlands. She would participate in group shows at the university while earning a Bachelor of Arts with distinction in 1966. In 1967, she earned a Master of Arts at California State University, and in 1969, she earned a Master of Fine Arts from the Claremont Graduate School. She was the head resident at Pitzer College from 1967 to 1970, and during this period Ms. Owen produced a large amount of art, with shows at the American Ceramic Society and the University of Redlands. She became an instructor at Mount San Antonio in 1968, and was director of the college art gallery from 1972 to 1973. In 1973, Ms. Owen was married, and she continued to teach art history, ceramics, and was in numerous shows even as she raised two children.
In 2007, a piece of ceramics was permanently accepted in the Technical Collection of the American Museum of Ceramic Art, in Pomona, CA. One of her teapots is represented in the book, "Collectible Teapots," from 2000, and was awarded a Honorarium For Teapots at the Urban Institute of Contemporary Arts in Grand Rapids, Michigan. An example of Ms. Owen's work can be viewed in the flickriver collection "cuptheintimateobjecti," entitled "Serpent in the Garden of Eden."
Some of the notable locations that have chosen Ms. Owen in group shows are the San Bernardino County Museum, the Riverside Art Museum in 1998, 1999 and 2000, Angels Gate Cultural Center, Missouri State University, the San Angelo Museum of Fine Art, the Esmay Fine Art Gallery in Rochester, New York, the Kellogg University Art Gallery, California State Polytechnic University, and, on multiple occasions, the city of Brea Gallery.

Ms. Owen is a member of the American Ceramic Society's design division, and received a monetary award from them in 1999. Additionally, she is affiliated with the Art Association of America, Friends of Huntington Library, the Redlands Art Association, Reverside Art Museum, and Sigma Tau Delta.
For her services to the arts, Ms. Owen was selected for inclusion in numerous volumes of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the West, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in American Women, and the 2004 to 2005 volume of Who's Who in American Education.
