About Ionis B. Martin
Ms. Martin is an artist who is currently writing and painting in Watertown, MA where she lives near her son and his family. As she looks to the future she is excited by the opening of the National Museum of African-American History and Culture in Washington, DC, where she is a Charter Member. By moving back to New England, she is near and affiliating with the Museum of African American History, the National Museum of African American Art and Artists, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Helen Gardner Museum and the New Art Center; as well as her continued memberships at The Artists Collective and the Amistad Center at the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford, CT.
In addition to her status as a Lifetime Achiever, Ms. Martin was named a Secondary Art Educator of the Year, as well an artist fellow at Skidmore College, a fellow at the DuBois Institute with Harvard University and a grantee for Through Young Black Eyes with the Connecticut Commission on the Arts.
