MASSAPEQUA PARK, NY, July 31, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to name Joyce Sattler Howard a Lifetime Achiever. An accomplished listee, Ms. Howard celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

After serving for many years as an elementary school teacher in the North Bellmore school district of Long Island, New York, Ms. Howard is now retired from education. Since 2008, she has served as president of her local Retired Teachers Association and is focused on representing her fellow teachers. She is most proud of an educational video she recorded with her students while teaching second grade titled "Stranger Danger." Ms. Howard wrote to receive a grant to fund the project, which is still used by her school district to teach caution to young children.

Born in New York, NY, in 1940 to Walter Theodore and Jessie Lillian Sattler, Ms. Howard was inspired to start her career after marrying her high school teacher, Philip Laurance Howard, at the age of 19. The couple had two children, Robert and Douglas. Ms. Howard wanted to help her own children with their schooling and developed an interest in elementary education.
Ms. Howard initially attended the Nassau Community College for an Associate's degree and matriculated at Adelphi University for a BA in elementary education, followed by an MA in 1976. Ms. Howard has served the North Bellmore school district as a teacher for most of her professional life. In the '90s, she also served as a consultant with Learn City in San Ronson, California, as well as the Nassau County Health Center in New York.

As a leader in her community, Ms. Howard was active with her teachers' union and wanted parents and families to be involved in her class. She joined the executive board of the North Bellmore Teachers Association in 1997 as a retirement representative, and was presented with a 2000 Lifetime Award and a 2005 Distinguished Service Award by the organization. Ms. Howard contributed to the North Bellmore Teacher Center and the North Bellmore School PTA, which presented her with a 2000 Lifetime Award.

She had also previously been part of a group of teachers who wrote a book titled "Windows" in 2000. After 9/11 the second grade wrote a book for President Bush, "If You Give the President a Bagel." It was their story of the president's day (it taught them all that he had to do and the format was inspired by the Laura Numeroff books). They received thank you notes from both the President and Mrs. Bush and had a hard copy added to the school library. For a lifetime devoted to the nurture of children, Ms. Howard was selected for inclusion in four volumes of Who's Who
in America, two volumes of Who's Who in American Education, three volumes of Who's Who of American Women, and the 2007 volume of Who's Who in the World.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Ms. Howard has been featured on the Marquis Who's Who Lifetime Achievers website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
