For four decades, Mr. Delgado has worked as a manufacturing executive, making the critical decisions that allow major manufacturers like General Electric to implement _$7.7M in cost improvement projects. Mr. Delgado takes particular pride in his work at Fusion UV Systems, not only where he implemented _$7.1M cost improvement projects, but where he also facilitated a 15.7% average annual growth rate in business from $17M (1990) to $84M (2001).
Mr. Delgado was born to Ramon T. Delgado-Murphy and Rosalina Ortiz-Pagan. He studied industrial and systems engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology, received the Army ROTC Distinguished Military Student Award in 1972, and earned a bachelor's degree in 1977. For six years, he worked with the Lighting Business Group at General Electric, serving from materials specialist to production control and ultimately manager of shop operations, advancing into middle management at the interface between marketing, engineering, and manufacturing in two different businesses. General Electric awarded Mr. Delgado his first Managerial Award in 1979.
In 1984 he was promoted to manager of special projects at GE Ceramics within General Electric, subsequently serving with the General Electric Technical Services Co. and ECOM de Mexico as Operations Manager in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico. As a result of his hard work and dedication to his industry, General Electric awarded Mr. Delgado his second Managerial Award in 1985. In 1987, Mr. Delgado transitioned to a role managing new processes and equipment for GE Lighting, and as resident engineering manager for successfully providing on site management for a _$15M key technology transfer in 1988 that generated $40M in incremental revenue by 1991.
In 1991, Mr. Delgado accepted a post as director of fabrication at Fusion Systems Corp., in Rockville, Maryland. The position led him to becoming director of manufacturing at Fusion UV Systems in 1994, and after being acquired by Spectris in 1996, he advanced into senior management as vice president in 1999. Mr. Delgado was presented the 1995 Customer Satisfaction Award, earned a master's degree in engineering management from George Washington University in 1997, received the 1999 Maryland Quality Award and FUV invention disclosure in 2001. Mr. Delgado also served Spectris at Bruel & Kjaer Vibro in Darmstadt, Germany, and NDC Infrared Engineering in Irwindale California as vice president.
He started his own company Strategic Operations Solutions, LLC in 2000, and served as a consultant for many projects in the early 2000's, domestically and internationally. As director of manufacturing for Janos Technology in 2007, Mr. Delgado facilitated a rapid business turnaround that led to a liquidity event with Danaher Corporation in 2008. He also served as vice president for Clear Align LLC in 2009, and operations manager for PremaTech Advanced Ceramics in 2011. In 2013, he accepted a post at the Maryland Manufacturing Extension Partnership as an account manager, where he provided _$5M in economic impact benefits reported to NIST MEP.
In addition to posts as a manufacturing executive, Mr. Delgado is the author of "QFD Killed My Pet (Project)" and a contributor of articles to professional journals. He was the co-founder, president, and board member of Strategic Path and Engineering, Inc. from 2001 to 2005, as continues to be the sole member of Strategic Operations Solutions, LLC, since 2000. Mr. Delgado is also active in his civic duty as a founder and coach at the ESOL Ministry with the Seneca Creek Community Church, on the advisory board for the manufacturing technology program at Carver VTHS, VMS mentor for the Maryland Technology Council, MERL subject matter expert for TEDCO, and C12 Group member.
Mr. Delgado also previously served as AIIE president-elect Cleveland Chapter 007 (IIE), a volunteer pilot for AirLifeLine (Angel Flight), on the machine technology advisory board at Worcester THS, as founding member and steering committee member of the MassMEP Manufacturing Advancement Center Workforce Innovation Collaborative (MACWIC), an adjunct professor teaching lean six sigma and formerly on the manufacturing advisory board of Quinsigamond Community College, and a ministry leader and coach for the Hispanic Ministry at Seneca Creek Community Church.
Mr. Delgado is also a certified leadership coach and trainer (Christian Business Men's Connection), a member of the Mid-Atlantic Angels, a Life Member of the U.S. Chess Federation, a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, certified as a private pilot w/instrument rating (Federal Aviation Administration), trained as a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award examiner (National Institute of Standards and Technology), a certified quality engineer (American Society for Quality Control), and has been affiliated with the American Institute of Industrial Engineers, AirLifeLine (Angel Flight), the Sports Car Club of America, U.S. Sailing, and many other organizations.
For many years of service as a manufacturing executive, Mr. Delgado was selected for inclusion in numerous volumes of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the World, two volumes of Who's Who in the South and Southwest, and one volume each of Who's Who in the Midwest, Who's Who in Finance and Business, and Who's Who in Finance and Industry.
