She is also adjunct professor at the University of Technology Sydney, and Griffith University Australia.
Dr. Page has been a midwife for more than three decades. She prepared for her profession in the late 1960s when she registered as a midwife in Scotland, she then earned a Bachelor of Arts from Open University and a Master of Science from the University of Edinburgh. Later in her career, she obtained a Ph.D. from the University of Technology Sydney in 2005. Dr. Page earned an honorary Doctor of Science from the University of West London in 2013. She is a registered midwife, a registered midwife teacher, a registered nurse, and a registered nurse teacher. In 2008, she became a certified expert witness through Cardiff Law School.
Prior to working in her current capacity, Dr. Page served as the head of midwifery for the Guy's and St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, the Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust, the Children's and Women's Health Center and Midwifery Department for Providence Health Care, and John Radcliffe Maternity Service. She also taught midwifery at Thames Valley University and Queen Charlotte's Hospital, Grace Hospital Vancouver BC Canada, and the University of Technology Sydney. Dr. Page further utilized her expertise in leadership and consultant roles with the Department of Health, the English National Board of Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting, the House of Commons' maternity services subcommittee and the King's Fund maternity services inquiry. She is noted for her research and evaluation of one-to-one midwifery.
Along with being a frequent lecturer and activist in the realm of midwifery, Dr. Page has served as editor for a number of medical books and publications. These include the first and second editions of "The New Midwifery: Science and Sensitivity in Practice," as well as "Effective Group Practice in Midwifery: Working with Women in Childbirth." In 2015 Dr. Page was made a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) for services to midwifery. A recipient of the Jubilee Award for Nursing from the Hammersmith Hospital School of Nursing, Dr. Page was chosen to be featured in the 7th and 8th editions of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare. She has also appeared in multiple editions of Who's Who in the World.
