He has been the president of Krieger Consulting since 1995, though he started private management consulting in 1974. Mr. Krieger is the recipient of 450 regional and national awards in 14 professional fields, philanthropy, and public service. He is also a prolific fundraiser, having provided hundreds of millions of dollars for national and Memphis area charities.
Born to Robert Lee Sr. and June Elise Krieger in 1946, Mr. Krieger began his career as a travel consultant and meeting planner before matriculating at the University of Memphis. He earned a BBA in 1968 and an MBA in 1969, serving in between as a member of the U.S. Olympic Society in Boulder, Colorado. Mr. Krieger went on to work with the mayor of the city of Memphis as an administrative assistant until 1972, when he joined the University of Memphis as a director of development programs. In that year, he also became politically active, and joined the Republican National Advocacy Committee in Washington as well as the Republican Regional Steering Committee. In the '80s, Mr. Krieger became a trustee and life member of the Republican Presidential Task Force.
Mr. Krieger became a faculty member of St. Francis in 1988, serving until 1996, and continues to offer consultancy services. He has also been a member of the University College of Business faculty since 1984, and was the keynote speaker for numerous professional groups. For his achievements in management, he was awarded the 1971 U.S. Treasury Award from the U.S. Department of Treasury.
For his political dedication, Mr. Krieger was presented with the 1984 National Presidential Medal of Merit by the Republican Presidential Task Force, and has received the Republican Legion of Merit. He was also presented with the 1968 to 1985 President's Awards from the Memphis Cotton Carnival Association. In his fundraising activities, he has been active in the Make-A-Wish Foundation, as well as Shrine Hospitals, St Jude's Hospital, and the Boys Scouts and Girl Scouts of America.
For his philanthropic efforts and business acumen, Mr. Krieger was selected for inclusion in numerous volumes of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in the World, two volumes of Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America from 1987 to 1990, and two volumes of Who's Who in Finance and Business from 2004 to 2010.
