Mr. Sullins became an Educator to be able to enrich student lives and help direct them achieve a positive direction in life. He studied at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan to earn a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics in 1970, and first encountered students as an eighth grade math teacher in East Hills Junior High, located in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Mr. Sullins went on to Imlay City Junior High as a seventh grade teacher in math and science for one year, and in 1973, he joined Croswell-Lexington High School in Michigan. He earned a M.A.T from Oakland University in 1975, and in 1976, he accepted a post as a math teacher with Carsonville-Port Sanilac Junior-Senior High School, where he served for five years and became head football coach.
From 1977 to 1981, Mr. Sullins also taught pre-calculus at St. Clair Community College in Michigan, returning to high school with Chelsea High School through the '80s and '90s. He moved to Tennessee to teach math at Ripley High School for one year, and worked with JAC Products for another. Mr. Sullins briefly worked as a text layout technician with Sheridan Books, and in 2001 he joined Mansfield University until 2011 as an adjunct instructor. Three years later, he was welcomed as an adjunct instructor in mathematics, science, and computer technology by Empire State College.
Mr. Sullins is a well regarded presenter in the field, and often holds annual engagements with the Michigan Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, as well as the Pennsylvania Council of Teachers of Mathematics. He has contributed numerous articles to professional publications, and was selected for inclusion in three volumes of Who's Who in America in 2007, 2008, and 2009.
In 2013, the Oakland University Baseball Team awarded Mr. Sullins the Distinguished Alumnus Award. In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Mr. Sullins has been featured on the Marquis Who's Who Lifetime Achievers website.
